Increase Adsense Income with Targeting Tags
I have been using Adsense Targeting Tags with great success in an effort to increase Adsense income and the overall quality of ads Google serves to our websites.
The tags work best if your website statistics software shows a daily or regular visit from the Googlebot or Google search engine spider… (Read on for the exact HTML code and instructions for these tags)
.. the Post itself has to be spidered after you first add the tags, prior to the *targeted* content returning the desired type of adsense ad, generating the resulting increase in your online income.
I’ll use one of the articles Use Adsense Targeting Tags to capture High Paying Keyphrases I introduced to the main Marketing Defined site recently (as my main site slowly evolves, sigh!) to highlight the results you get from using *Adsense Targeting Tags*
The article also provides the exact required HTML code and application tips for these Adsense targeting tags. Please read the article so you are aware fully informed of Google’s exact requirements when using such tags, to avoid the possible cancellation of an Adsense account.
When you look at the article you will notice a list of current *high paying keyphrases* (which I intend to update regularly).
I selected the highest paying parts of this list to encase with these tags, rather than be served up the usual mish-mash of disappointing .06cent *blog* or *free software* type ads if I left the choice entirely up to Google.
But please be cautioned, that the selected portion of text must be strictly relevant to the rest of the content on that webpage and constitute a major portion of the article, to avoid offending the Big G.
If you are new to the field of marketing, these tags have to be wrapped around the actual HTML code, and the exact instructions are included in the above referenced article on high paying keyphrases .
This method has worked equally well with the Marketing Defined Blog’s content/posts. Regrettably, Blogs are infamous for serving up low paying “blog type” ads, unless you generate huge CTRs which is the payoff for massive levels of targeted website traffic.
To use targeting tags in your blog post, find a relevant part of the post that does not make mention of Blogs, and encase that part of content in the Targeting tags, and just as soon as Googlebot visits your site, you will notice a far better quality of ad appearing on that post.
Fortunately, Googlebot graces the Marketing Defined website with a daily visit, and the positive results are almost instantaneous for me (naturally excluding only the most recently posted article, until it is spidered within 24 hours).
..a working example of Targeting Tags on this blog is - if you look at the Post directly above in its *teaser* state on the Marketing Defined home page you will see the usual *low paying* Adsense ads displayed inline.
However, after the addition of Targeting Tags around a select part of the Post, if you click on the actual title Chitika eMiniMalls track Keyphrases, when you arrive on the archived page of the post, you will see how the ads change in line with the Targeting Tags I used… pretty neat!
In line with re-optimizing a website to earn the much needed extra income for Christmas (teenagers tastes in gifts are a lot more extravagant than what I was used to receiving as a youngster ;-), I added this extra tip on Adsense Targeting Tags for you, to a previous Post I wrote on 3 Tips to dramatically increase Adsense income (alright! the title might be hypey - but, I am a *Marketer* by trade ;-) .
I guess I’ll have to rename the article to *4 tips to increase Adsense income* !
If you have visited this Blog previously, or are a valued repeat visitor, you would also notice a number of other changes in Ad placements:
- *inline* placement of Adsense ads within the content itself
- slight reduction in the *shade* of text color to a gray #878773, rather than bold black (statistics show that using a slightly lighter shade than that of your webpage draws a viewer’s eye to the ad).. thanks to Darren Rowse, for this particular tip.
.. I’ll post this and other Adsense optimization results, and the actual code to get these *inline* placements for those new to online marketing (the *view* and *source code* tab in a browser also may be used to get the code).. in the next few days.
