Surviving Google’s Aging Delay

Google has always been the search industry’s innovator and that’s just what Google’s Aging delay symbolizes, the evolution of search innovation… yet another significant step forward for Google.

At first the news that a new site has been hit by the Google “Aging delay“, is usually met with annoyance and some frustration at the thought of having to wait out the required 6 - 8 months to get targeted traffic from the mighty Google.

But the more you read and analyze the implications of the Aging delay .. a healthy respect for Google’s intentions should be born out of the analysis.

What could be wrong with thwarting the attempts of the millions of illegal Adult and Pharmacy sites, from using artificial linkage to gain “fraudulent” high rankings in the SERP’s … only to disappear months later, when discovered by Google.

Such fraudulent sites only serve to corrupt the Search Engine listings, not only for genuine Webmasters, but for the end consumer … the public, who expect relevancy and content when using the major Search Engines.

Personally, it seems unethical that many Companies have made big pots of money through the sale and rental of high PR [Page Rank] text links.

Besides you would be wasting good “marketing” budget funds on purchasing high PR text links, because even with such high PR links , you would still have the Aging filter placed on your new site.

What could be more rewarding than having a related Site with high Page Rank choose to link to you, purely because of the relevant content you offer.

The simple truth is: Google’s aging delay is a full frontal assault on artificial link inflation. Good on you Google, I say.

The days of purchasing instant link popularity and PageRank are over and in due course you will see Google give your site the recognition it deserves.

An excellent article by Lawrence Deon of “Ranking Your Way to the Bank” in Site Pro News expands on this theory …

Lawrence not only clearly illustrates that the Sandbox filter and the Aging delay are not one and the same [Google algorithms], but his round-up is one of the best I have had the pleasure of reading on the analysis of the Aging delay and its implications.

Lawrence Deon’s article is recommended reading, to owners of newer websites .. don’t panic he says, if you have just put up a new website … instead:

Once you’ve registered your domain name and configured the hosting, you should:

  • set up a few temporary pages
  • obtain related links to them from other sites in Google’s index to start the Aging delay countdown
  • launch a site immediately with enough content to set up and facilitate the requirements for directory listings to start.

[This explains why I put up a temporary placeholder page until the main Marketing Defined site is published ... purely, to chew some months off the Aging filter ... it is my intention to publish most of the site's pages within the next ten days, and keep adding quality content prior to the end of the Aging delay]

The sooner Google is aware of your domain the better. Just don’t hold your breath waiting to see results… It could be as long as 6 - 8 months!

Use the time wisely, to apply legitimate search engine optimization and marketing techniques.
